A normal day at the weekend - when plans don't work out

I actually wanted to spend this weekend working in the garden, planting fields for the vegetable garden.

Yesterday was beautiful weather, not hot, not too cold, pleasant air, but warm sunshine, a deep blue sky without clouds, yesterday, the perfect weather to create something out of the garden, instead: working, from early till late.

And today? On Saturday? Got up at 7 a.m. to get as much done as possible that you don't get to during the week?

Dark clouds, cold wind, no sun, really lousy weather that you would associate more with fall. I think to myself, okay, bad luck for Saturday, I won't do the garden today, maybe the garden tomorrow, there's plenty of other things to do. Well, no, I want to empty the washing machine, which ran overnight, only to find the laundry room underwater, looking at the error message from LG: AE. Quick online check with my smartphone: Leakage, leakage. Aquastop has failed. As a trained electronics engineer, this kind of thing is simply shameful, why do you keep building new functions into a washing machine, installing Wi-Fi and smart shit, only for simple technology like a water sensor to fail and cause damage?

I can't open the washing machine, the front flap is locked, so I disconnect the washing machine from the power supply and wait until the capacitors have lost their charge and the relay releases so that I can unlock the door. After about 2-3 minutes I was able to open the door and the rags were full of water. So the float switch must have tripped when the washing machine started the main wash. Now I had to wring out the rags by hand to remove the water before putting them in the tumble dryer so that it wasn't overloaded with water from the rags. I got what felt like 2 liters of water out of the rags by hand and collected it in a bucket.

Now the dryer has been running for 1.5 hours, in the meantime I've taken care of the insurance, as it's water damage and the washing machine doesn't allow it to continue working because of the automatic lock when it's switched on again. Although as a trained electronics technician I could open the machine, it's still under warranty and we have insurance that if the washing machine can't be repaired, we'll get a new one. But as it's the weekend and nobody can be reached on Saturday anyway, we'll just have to write an email and send the pictures as proof.

While the dryer is still running, the weather has unfortunately not improved, working outside in the garden? Rather not possible. Instead, tidying up the house, washing dishes in the kitchen and preparing lunch for the family.

In the afternoon, the post arrived unexpectedly with a package of solar lamps. These need to be installed. Due to a lack of craftsmen and high costs, it's DIY! So we install solar lamps with motion detectors at the entrance to the house and place floodlight LEDs in the garden.

During the week, more or less important letters also arrive, while emails can be saved as PDFs, letters first have to be digitized, then sorted and then the paper can go away (if not absolutely necessary as paper). And as it is in Germany when you deal with German digital companies: bad customer service on the phone, and if you need something, it needs paper. Since I am canceling my internet connection, I have to download all my bills beforehand, they are not sent automatically by email, where I could have downloaded them from my email account at any time, instead the password of my internet provider account had expired, yeah, security! (My ass), so I had to wait 2 weeks for a letter with a code so I could set a new password (To those reading this who don't live in Germany: Yes, this is Germany...). So finally I was able to download all the invoices and for whatever reason, I had to manually enter all the information for canceling with the provider, who actually already knows everything (As a web developer, I'm already pissed off to the max)

And then comes the thing you're worried about - will the request go through?

No. Of course not!

Yes, you know that you are in Germany, that you are prevented from canceling a contract with every possible banner page and that you only get an error message without explanation when you click the final cancel button. Thank you, thank you for nothing!

Cancellation online not possible, alternatively by post or by phone, whereby I have to pay almost 1€ postage for the post (can you actually have this refunded legally?) and by phone I either don't reach anyone, can insult the AI and this is a worse conversation partner than ChatGPT or with a lot of luck I reach someone who has no idea about anything and just forwards me.

Yes, so it's more likely that I'll call them on Monday and cancel by phone.

In the evening, check that the solar floodlights are working and then take the dog for a walk.

At home, I watched a few YouTube tutorials and videos about AI development. I also created and uploaded a video on my Faceless Youtube channel, writing the script, generating AI images, recording, editing and rendering also takes time, for 10 minutes of video it takes 2 hours of work.

And to make the €12.99 monthly Netflix subscription worthwhile, I watched the movie "The Electric State" at 10 pm.
