An alternative to LinkedIn, a better business network

I'm building a better LinkedIn business network

LinkedIn is a good network to network, but in the last months and years, there is more and more, for me perceptible criticism at LinkedIn, so the quality goes down and because of censorship and questionable functions (gender designation and who needs reels on a business network) has me recently a contribution thinking about it, and a comment that appealed to some people was the reason for me to say, hey, can't I build something better than LinkedIn?

LinkedIn - Too big to fail?

LinkedIn is known as an international social business network, hardly anyone who is involved in various industries and intentional companies and wants to establish contacts and reach potential customers from other countries can avoid LinkedIn.

My idea has a problem, because I am facing a giant with this current leisure project to keep a coding skills trained (of course AI is also used 😉 ), because LinkedIn belongs to Microsoft and therefore has many more resources than I do as a single person. After all, why would anyone use my network? A target group? Companies and business people. But why would they switch from LinkedIn to my network?

We have the chicken-and-egg problem here: without users, no one will come, if no one comes, why should you register on a "dead" platform?

So here are the goals that I would like to realize with this demonstration project.

Goals for the MVP:

  • Chronological and topic-based feed (no algorithm that decides what is relevant for you, possibly optional later)
  • Upload and display images
  • Embedding YouTube links with full preview view
  • Search function
  • Profile
  • Possibility to react to a post, comment on it and share it outside the network.

I will be posting updates on my blog here from time to time and writing about the problems and any challenges. So to make sure you don't miss anything, check back here on my blog from time to time 🙂
